About

This site is about renewable energy and the economic opportunities it offers regional communities.

The City of Victor Harbor began work in renewable energy in 2009, by facilitating a group purchase of solar panels across the Fleurieu. Known as the Community Purchase of Renewable Energy Program or C-PREP, it resulted in approximately 3,000 ratepayers across four councils, installing solar panels.

Following this success the LGA initiated a similar program across several more councils which now sees some 40% of Victor Harbor's houses under panel.

Estimated power bill savings for Victor Harbor ratepayers are currently in the order of $1,000,000 per annum. That means more money in our community. Across the Fleurieu the carbon gas savings are estimated at 3,000 tons per annum.

Renewable energy exploitation is a proven economic opportunity with positive climate change results.

This site records the history and plots our future built around renewable energy opportunities.
