These two Mckinsey Papers, written years apart aptly demonstrate the power of knowledge.
Their 2008 paper has been unerringly accurate, while the McKinsey 2012 report says the solar driven distributed energy arena has the potential for extraordinary growth.
Although somewhat US centric, here are the business and community opportunities of the decade. It is no longer business as usual.
